about

Shortly before the 2020 pandemic Macramé Brass met up at Experimental Sound Studio to record one short set's worth of music. The idea was to simply capture some of the sounds and ideas that we developed during our monthly residencies at Dorian's Jazz Club and The California Clipper in Chicago.

Meditation (January 26, 2020) is group improvisation recorded shortly after hearing of the fatal helicopter crash that took the lives of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant.

Mezcal Caravan is an adaptation of a lofi beat instrumental by Charles Mantis that was arranged for the band. The title is inspired by a daydream of traveling throughout a Mexican desert in an industrial van collecting diy bottles of mezcal.

Larb was written to fit the vibe at Dorian's.

Macramé is a lofi beat instrumental that is sometimes used as an interlude during live performances.
